My assignment fic! For Shadowcat, who wanted, terrifyingly, "a happy scene" - nothing like my usual epics at all! But I did my best and I think it turned out fairly well; it was definitely a bit tough for me, but I got to rewatch the movie and read all about Veronica Franco, and overall it was a lovely first Yuletide assignment.

For Ryuutchi, who posted a lovely letter with a Twisted Princesses prompt and then apparently edited both signup and letter ... after the day where I went through all the letters and copied out the prompts I was thinking about treating. /o\ That'll teach me to not check back! She was super gracious about her extra surprising fic, and I got the chance to try my hand at horror - not my usual thing, but everybody who's commented has been incredibly encouraging.

Hey look I rewrote a movie. I guess I had to get back into my comfort zone somehow. :D For havocthecat, whose letter caught my eye very early on. I ended on a moment that's analogous to the end of the movie, but there's more to the story in my head. (And that might even make it out of my head at some point.)

Summary: Becka falls down. That's how it starts. One big long missing scene: how Carrier 18 joined the postal service of the Restored United States, and how Ford Lincoln Mercury built a post office.

For staranise, whose letter encapsulated how I feel about The Postman in a paragraph. (Honestly, that movie should be about Ford Lincoln Mercury; he does about six times as much postmanning as the Postman.) I am astounded by the response to this story, which is the only fic on the AO3 for this movie - I was expecting a recip comment and next to nothing else, and am blown away by how kind everyone has been.


And! I would like to re-advertise my gift, plus the extra Madness snippet I received: Sheeana wrote me both the gorgeous 24k Empress of Sand and Water, in which Chani is the Mahdi, Irulan is sent to Arrakis by her father, and they get married and share Paul and save the universe; and the much shorter but equally lovely Water-Envy, Chani and Irulan by the ocean. I am just overwhelmed with joy, they are fantastic stories and there is even a chance of a sequel! ♥.♥ I CAN'T. THE HAPPIEST BEARS.

And now to bed; I was up until about 3 a.m. washing New Year's dishes and woke much earlier than I would have liked today, so I am totally exhausted in the best way.
