Not dead, just recovering - Sandy was very kind to my area, we didn't even lose power. But there is a funny sort of tension in being a safe state on the border of a swing state, and for a bunch of weekends and the four days leading up to Tuesday (and on Tuesday itself) I was volunteering for Democrats in New Hampshire. (Who did extremely well, New Hampshire is now ruled by women.) I stayed up until 3 a.m. watching the results and then slept like a log; everyone in Florida and Ohio and wherever else who put up with those lines is my hero. And I would like to apologize to everybody on the canvassing list who got hit a zillion times - they don't tell volunteers whether a house has been hit before, it's not our fault!

But: other things happened besides voting, although they were just a bit less important.

2.04: I really don't care much about Gold's backstory manpain, but I really really liked Belle in this episode - I loved her conversation with Ruby, AU with Rubywolf as the Beast pls, and I'm glad that at the very least she got to yell at both her father and Gold for the ridiculous shit they pulled. ♥ Belle.

2.05: This episode would have been a complete dud for me but for a) lots of Regina, yay, even if it was mostly about Dead Daniel, and b) the ladies tying Hook to a tree. :D I super don't care about Whale, the only other thing that really stuck out for me was that apparently Hook and Hatter are having a serious guyliner-off.

2.06: LOVED Emma and the beanstalk, her trusting Mulan to cut it down if she didn't get back quickly enough, and Snow and Aurora bonding over forced sleep. And Hurley! How excellent to see you. I anti-care about Thief Guy, though, and about the idea that August had to be there to shepherd Emma unknowingly along toward her destiny, like she couldn't have been happily married and kept Henry and still ended up in Maine? I mean, I probably should have known Disney wouldn't give a heroine a pleasant one-night stand and a birth-control malfunction; and yet they needed some explanation for why the ~love didn't last. :P

I'll admit I'm a tad curious about the box, and about why, if August had something guaranteed to make mundanes believe, he did not also show it to Emma during all their arguments - unless he'd somehow lost the box or its contents by then? But mostly I just want The Adventures of Women in Fairytaleverse + The Belle and Ruby Show, and things that are not that are mostly going to lose out. Also, I really want a Mulan-centric episode. As long as I'm wishing.

And my favorite, Revolution.

The previews for 1.06 are, in retrospect, even skeezier now that we know the plot of that episode was not about Charlie selling herself for penicillin - because that is definitely what it looked like, and I have trouble believing that was an accident, which means they put the preview together that way on purpose. EW.

The actual plot of 1.06, such as it is, pales in comparison to the revolting set of backstory flashbacks they gave Google Guy, who had not previously earned my enmity. Don't get me wrong, I am SO SAD for him that he found himself unable to ~protect his Asian Wife, and had to abandon her to a group of strangers for her own good! ALL THE TEARS. I am merely surprised they did not give his Asian Wife the same guilt; she is Asian, doesn't she automatically know judo or something? >:E

Honestly by the end of the episode I basically wanted Nora to shoot him, so I'm just bummed he didn't die.

The rest of the episode was basically just another "will innocent idealistic Charlie be able to kill this random person to save XYZ???" - the answer was that she was working up to it but she didn't need to in the end, which I suppose was slightly more nuanced than 1.01 and 1.02's "yes".

1.07 was basically a crossover between Peter Pan and The Postman, which is something I never thought I would ever type but there it is. Seriously, they ran across a band of children with no parents and a bunch of weapons in the middle of nowhere who were looking for their leader, "Peter", and no one made a Lost Boys reference. (At least not that I remember.) And then as part of their plan Charlie got herself conscripted to the militia. Which occurred because yet another black guy who's in the militia noticed her by the side of the road, punched her in the face, and dragged her off; and Uncle Crankypants did that almost-left-cover-because-he-couldn't-stand-to-watch thing, which means he never gets to yell at Charlie for being stupid ever again. EVER.

And then she was re-educated on the scary re-education ship by a guy who was spouting vaguely fascist bullshit, and branded with the bad guy's insignia. If the end of this show is her challenging Monroe to one-on-one combat for control of the militia, I will laugh and laugh. And then watch intently, because, hey, I like The Postman way more than I like this show anyway.

I'm really glad Grace is still alive! Less glad that Juliet's backstory is that Dead Ben sold out their electricity-suppressor to the DOD and she gave in because the DOD guy could save fetal!Danny. D: Not impressed, show. Not impressed. Also, her conversation with the other scientist was laughably terrible. After this episode ended, I went to my parents and told them that if a psycho ever made them choose between my life and giving him world-ending information, they should let him gut me, because, seriously. SERIOUSLY.

I'm not caught up on Elementary or Burn Notice, but I will have aaaaaaall the free time this weekend, and I'll probably only spend half of it panicking about my Yuletide fic. :D And NaNo! I put the bar code from last year somewhere, I'll have to dig that up, but so far it's going quite well.
