HAHAHA oops. Man, if I don't post on Monday I'll just let the whole week slip by me, because I'm a winner. (Doesn't help that we are creeping closer and closer to graduation at work. Nothing piles the last-minute work on like graduation.)

But anyway! No Korra this week, but that's okay, because I never said anything about last week's, which was EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED FROM THIS SHOW. I mean, I'm still hoping for a little more complexity than anyone has yet verbalized re: equalism, but ASAMI. YES. I admit I was not committed emotionally to this show before this ep, not really - I liked it, and was hoping to keep liking it, and wanted to see where it would go, but I did not know what real love was until "I'll take you for a spin." &ALLTHEHEARTS; YES. Asami and Korra talking to each other and riding in vehicles at high speed and not trusting one another, and Asami is basically Zuko except she didn't take two and a half seasons to act on the idea that her dad was an ass, and the show could end right now (although of course I hope it doesn't) and the adventures of Team Korra living together on the Air Temple island and saving Republic City would live on in my mind forever. I'm really hoping this is the beginning of a slightly greater degree of teamery outside of the pro-bending arena, because I love them all and I just want them to hang out and save the world. With Lin crankily supervising.

The one tiny thing I loathed was Mako's dialogue right before he and Bolin went down the tunnel - I don't remember it verbatim, but it was something vaguely patronizing about him going down there to find out for Asami, so she didn't have to go herself, and [personal profile] idriya and I both yelled at the TV when that happened. I can only hope that was simply a sloppy choice of device to keep Asami off the scene until precisely the right moment, but AUGH. My fondness for Mako's willingness to rub noses with his girlfriend in public is going to be rapidly overwhelmed by distaste if they make him a dick. :P

And The Borgias, I am caught up on that, too. YES CATERINA SFORZA FOREVER. I wish there had been more Giulia, and that they were not spending quite so much time on the faintly clunky protofeminism of Lucrezia's next marriage, but aaaaaaaaaaaaall of that was made up for by CATERINA. Her fortress, her cannon, her armor, her simple unbending refusal - I so very loved her "no" and her commitment to not kneeling in the last eps, and if there were anyone in the world I could have asked for who would fuck up that asshole Juan, it would have absolutely been her. That moment when she grabbed her crotch and said she could have ten more sons? PERFECTION. Torture and death are, as ever, not my friends, but I am learning when all signs point to impending gore, and I'm getting good at precise skippage. I would never ever have predicted when I started watching this show that I would like it so much. It was a bit odd to watch because one of my more recent Netflixen was MirrorMask, which has the same actress in it - clearly she makes all things more awesome than they would otherwise have been.

Work tomorrow, for at least part of the day, because there's some stuff that essentially no one else can get done. And honestly I'm probably not going to return to any kind of frequent postery for another week or two, until graduation is safely behind me and the work level drops off a bit. (So, uh, next chapter of LttE = late. Sorry!)
