and stoppered my ears with wax.

I was so tired this weekend, for what seemed to be no good reason at all - maybe it's a time-of-the-month thing, I don't know. :P
But! I did manage to catch up on Burn Notice. Yay show! I concede that after the opening, the first part was not super great - for some reason, whenever they try to get dramatic with the dialogue, it comes out not-very-good. :/ They're good when it's with explosions and guns, when the drama is a choice that you're seeing get made through somebody's expression or actions; but for me personally, their attempts at really emotive dialogue don't usually turn out well. And part of it ("four years of hell" "it's been four years") came off as OH YEAH IT'S SEASON FIVE I GUESS IT HAS KIND OF BEEN A WHILE. And they really didn't have to do that - I mean, I haven't tried to add up dates or track holidays or anything, maybe it actually has been four years in-universe; but they could have called it two (one might have been pushing it, given Michael's occasional season-ending long absences) or just left it vague and I would've been fine with it. **hands**
But! It got better. :D I like Max; he's probably going to die at some point, but right now he's kind of like Gilroy Redux, he seems to spend half his time flirting with Michael. And Sam! Fi! Madeline! Jesse! I totally adored their refusal to trust the CIA with Michael (and, likewise, their refusal to let the CIA not trust Michael to handle his cover nearly getting blown), and I think I was nearly as pleased as Fi was that she got to blow up a telephone pole and thereby wreck a burning car. :D And, as always, I am weak in the knees for episodes where Michael gets bad guys to work with him by revealing a piece of his actual self. ♥♥♥ The bit at the end with him uncovering the car was also nice.
I do think their pacing choices were maybe a little strange - they didn't have to make a whole season out of Michael hunting down the shadow network, but they could've at least had the first ep as Michael going back into his old offices and working out where to start and maybe taking down the first person, and then had the montage of montagery to start the second episode. But I suppose I can't really gripe about it until I see the rest of this season. Same goes with the ending - was it a cop-out to have the guy shoot himself in the head and keep Michael (and us) from getting any answers whatsoever again? It kind of depends on what happens after this. If they just say, "Yeah, that was the only guy who knew anything, so I guess we'll never really know the big secret behind all this!" ... I may be a little pissed. I hate shows that start with a mystery the writers don't know the answer to, it so rarely turns out well. (Lost wasn't exactly bad, but if you go back and watch the early seasons, there's all these things the writers were clearly thinking would be part of the mystery, and ... they weren't. :P I find that grating.) I just wish this show had more ladies. Besides Fi and Maddie, I think there was one on the CIA team, and she didn't have any lines. I don't think there were any in the shadow network montage. :P
Also watched Suits, and I am not sure what I think. On the one hand, YAY GINA TORRES YAY. On the other hand, a show about really smart rude white dudes and how smart they are? Gosh, I have never seen that before. :/ I'll probably catch it sometimes if it happens to be on, because the dialogue seemed pretty sharp and also GINA TORRES, but I don't know that I'll be diligent.
