Ugh so tired. I came home this afternoon and napped for an hour, and it probably would have been about three times that except one of the cats woke me up with her yowling. :P On the upside, the drive home was unexpectedly gorgeous; it was cloudy and snowing directly overhead, but the sun was low enough that it was shining across everything sideways, and the snow falling in the distance was all lit up and making everything bright.
But enough! Monday night TV, and it's a double dose of yay this time, because I watched The Closer instead of The Event. \o/
CAPTAIN RAYYYYYYDOR ♥♥♥♥♥. I love Captain Raydor episodes SO MUCH. Flynn's meeting! He is mentor-y! And also a total badass, swinging the pipe like that when he'd already been slashed open with a knife. D: I was briefly afraid that he was going to die, but then I remembered all the stuff about Raydor in the previews, and the "officer-involved shooting" line, and I figured he'd be okay. I so adore Flynn and Provenza; even after that stupid flight attendant episode, I can't help it. And Gabriel! So weirded out that Raydor was being pleasant to him. That part was excellent.
I'm bummed that they went the evil-gay-prison-buddies route, but they did it in such a way that I felt immensely sympathetic toward the guy who was actually in love - I could tell he was both involved with the attack and felt bad about it the minute he said "I'm sorry" that way to Flynn at the beginning, and though I can't like him, given that he let the other guy bleed out in his car like that, I did feel bad for him. The guy he was in love with was a giant creepazoid, and there was something about the way he delivered his lines that reminded me immensely of the Voyager EMH. o.O
I can't say I'll be happy if they decide to get rid of Pope, but if they do - well, my first choice is ALWAYS Captain Raydor, and if it's not her, I still hope it's a woman. I miss Detective Daniels; they really need some more ladies on this show. CAPTAIN RAYDOR FOREVER the end.
The plot left a bit to be desired, but, as always, the team is ♥. Another "babe" - might still be chance, I will need a third to be convinced they're really doing this, but, wow. :D The car scene was excellent, and the part where they bickered the serial killer into relaxing his stance was HILARIOUS.
I think they did a good job with the notification/grieving - not a long shot, and I knew there would be a disbelief-thrash-breakdown sequence, but it was still touching. And I'm glad they made a point out of starting to break down the enmity between the woman and her mother-in-law by the end; I would have been sorry if they'd left it with that crap still in place.
I am so terrible at mustering deep thoughts about this show; all I have are GIANT ♥S.
Also, I just powered my way through a big chunk of ItO that was stalling me like nobody's business, which is a big relief. :P I hate getting stuck, it makes me feel so faily. How do I keep acquiring more and more projects? D:
