So, I watched the Warehouse 13 pilot.
Jul. 10th, 2009 09:28 pmAnd I ... sort of loved it? IDK, maybe I hit my head or something. I wasn't really expecting to like it, but ... I did.
( Not that there weren't problems, certainly. (Spoilers! Probably no one cares anyway!) )
That's how you can summarize my whole reaction, pretty much: it was kind of cliché, but it worked for me. I'm a sucker for LEOs and partner dynamics; when it's a male-female partnering, I especially like it when it stays mostly platonic, so I hope they don't screw around with that too much. I liked the first, oh, five-sixths better than I liked the ending - some parts of the ending worked for me, too (the SFX were hilarrible!), but parts of it were a little too over-the-top, even for me.
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised, is the point. As a pilot, I think it might have beaten Royal Pains's - it didn't seem to me to have the same kinds of pacing problems, which is probably because it was two hours instead of, what, an hour fifteen? and it was funnier. (Which might be a direct corollary; since it was longer, it could get in all the set-up and have time left over to make with the funny.) I think I'm pretty definitely going to hang on for some more episodes.
