I managed to remember my TV this week, which is really good, because Monday was the summer finale day for both The Closer and R&I.
YAY CAPTAIN RAYDOR YAY. I realize this makes it sound like I really really want more officer-involved shootings, but god help me I love episodes with her so much. I have heard they're planning a spinoff series about her, and if that's true, I CANNOT WAIT. Although it'll be a bit less fun if there's no Brenda, because I ship it so hard. And this episode was gold for that, I have to say; that whole scene where Raydor agreed to help delay the interview process was AMAZING, and how she immediately suggested putting together the video to clear Brenda with the judge, augh my heart.
Ahem. There were also times when Mary McDonnell was not on the screen! Brenda getting Fritz to let the thieves make their phone calls was awesome. I'm not sure exactly where they're going with the prosecutor guy - I know he said otherwise, but he seems so grudgey, I don't know. The only thing I really don't want is for the show to wrap up with Brenda being forced out of her job or something; if she decides to go herself, that's totally fine. (Unless they screw up the execution, of course.)
YAY CAPTAIN RAYDOR YAY
I have somewhat more mixed feelings about Rizzoli & Isles. As always, I am not watching for the plot, so I'm less bummed about another Rizzoli-is-nabbed-and-threatened-a-lot episode than I probably would be normally. But still: bummed. Although, as previously, she did get herself out of it to some degree - she beat up a prison guard and tackled a serial killer with her hands tied, and there was no guarantee the guard would have managed to kill her even if Jett Jackson hadn't burst in right then. And the riddle was reasonably complicated, I thought.
And, of course, there's a part of me that's a total sucker for that OTP-in-hostage-situation cliché. :D A bunch of this episode was pretty much the "hurt" part of an epic hurt/comfort fic, and for all the problems that can crop up with that genre, I do sometimes enjoy it.A lot. So: not in love with it, but I didn't hate it either, and Rizzoli and Isles still make me happy inside. Although, to be honest, if this show were basically just an hour of Rizzoli, Isles, and Jett Jackson hanging out, I would be absolutely okay with that.
I so can't wait for this weekend - I feel like a cartoon person running on a barrel, there's so many things I want to catch up on! D:
