YAY IT'S UNDER 90F. \o/

Also, in case someone has managed not to see it, KORRA TRAILER OMGYESSSSSSSSS.

Ahem. Also, I went and saw HPDH2 on Sunday, with my family. Overall, giant hearts! I totally did cry, though it was nearly half for Lavender Brown; I was not as utterly shocked as I might have been by what happened to her, because I am a spoilerphile, but it was weirdly wrenching and I am getting funny in the chest right now thinking about it. She was so wacky and funny and a little sweet in HBP, it was abrupt and startling to see her dead and mauled. :(

But! The whole thing was not depressing. Luna was so awesome, holy crap - "You listen to me right now, Harry Potter!" YES. And Neville! Him cutting off Nagini's head was EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED from this movie, hot damn. I am really glad they went with a Luna/Neville angle, they are one of my favorite pet ships. ♥ The effects were marvelous, except for the broom flight in the RoR; the giant ward over Hogwarts was awesome, taking out the bridge was awesome (Seamus!), the living statues were awesome. McGonagall and Molly Weasley were GREAT, omg.

I have complicated feelings toward Snape, but Nagini biting him was seriously brutal. I think they did as good a job as could be asked with the Prince's Tale chunk; it was a very neat encapsulation of the things I like about Snape (his ability to be brave and kind of horrid at the same time, his ability to buckle down and do things he doesn't want to do AT ALL because he knows it's for the best) and the things I don't like about him (his selfishness, his willingness to be a Death Eater just fine until, oops, they are targeting someone HE cares about). The part where he climbs over dead!James and cries on Lily's dead body while baby!Harry sobs in the background? Oh, Snape, I cannot decide whether you need a hug or a slap in the face.

... And I seem to be doing this in reverse order, so let me back up to the beginning and then skip to the end. Gringotts breakout? A THOUSAND TIMES YES. DRAGON, FLY FREEEEEEEEEEE. \o/ And Helena Bonham Carter was fantastic as Hermione trying to pretend she was Bellatrix. That part was great. I also approve of their decision to eliminate the red-hot aspect of the vault security mechanism, because that whole chunk of the book had me visualising third-degree burns EVERYWHERE. D:

And back to the end: RON AND HERMIONE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Also, I thought they were much clearer about Harry's Horcruxitude than I remember the book being, and I think it was really smart to excise all his talking at Voldemort at the end. The Malfoys were totally perfect, and Harry snapping the Elder Wand was great. And Neville's speech was also great. YAY NEVILLE YAY.

Okay, picky little gripe time. I have to admit that some parts of Dumbledore's chatting in the Kings Cross in subspace irritated me: I think help should come to people who need it and ask for it, even if they may not deserve it (whose job is it to determine that, anyway???); and I think "save your pity for the living" might have been a better way to say it than just "pity the living", because that makes it sound like everybody should just go ahead and get dead and save some time. o.O Also, I think the order of Harry's dialogue in the epilogue scene should have been reversed; saying there's a choice first and reassuring the kid that Slytherin's actually all right second would have made it seem less like he was trying to give Albus Severus an out. "There's always a choice; but seriously, Slytherin's fine" is not quite the same thing as "Seriously, Slytherin's fine; but there's always a choice".

But! As noted: picky. I enjoyed it very much; like GoF, which also makes me cry, I may not watch it repeatedly, but it is Harry Potter, and it's going to be a bit of me forever no matter what. Harry Potter is the reason I found fandom in middle school, which means I owe it more than I probably even realize. Someday I will finish that AU, dammit.

Also, I watched Burn Notice. I am not caught up on the week before last, but: spoilerphile. I am a little sorry they killed Max, but that is mostly because he reminded me of Gilroy and I was weirdly fond of Gilroy; by contrast, I am REALLY GLAD to see Agent Pierce. Clearly she and Detective Paxson need to get together and make Michael's life miserable. :D The stuff about Fi, like, interior-decorating did not annoy me as much as it could have because it was so offhand; it was more weird than anything else, unless they did it as the setup to the next Big Relationship Conflict, in which case I hate everything. :P

And now I should get back to work. :D
