damkianna: A cap of the Reverend Mother from the Dune miniseries, with accompanying text: "Space cowgirl." (omg yays!)

Yesterday was somewhat less than awesome; it started off with a department meeting nobody had warned me about, during which I had to talk about what exactly I've improved about the website, and ended with a dentist's appointment where the card I was supposed to use to pay got declined. :P

But! The fic posting two days ago went off without a hitch (though there are some small edits I need to remember to make to the AO3 version), which is way better than I was expecting for my first ever. I think after this I'm going to write the fics with formatting tags in place; going back through to find every instance of italics and tag it appropriately was a big time sink. I'm hoping I can get the rest of it done soon (the rest of this book, I mean; the whole series is going to take quite a bit longer), but I'm supposed to drive up to visit Br and AT this weekend, so. We'll see.

Anyway, on to last night's pre-hiatus finales. I'm actually pretty glad they didn't show us any more of that creep's manifesto, and I'm also glad they didn't push the racist-asshole angle too hard - it was there in small ways, and Brenda used it against him at the end, but they didn't, like, pull a Law & Order and keep talking about their own opinions of his opinion all the time. (Not that I always mind that; but sometimes it does get a bit old.) It was just: wow, that guy hated affirmative action. Let's use that, plus the narcissistic personality disorder, to figure out how to stop him.

And the climactic moment! GABRIEEEEEEEL. And Tao saves the day! I enjoyed all the back-and-forth right after Brenda took the shot ("Holy CRAP." "Or two. Or as many as you want to send.") - that was a very nice moment. Also, and this links back to above, I'm glad Brenda snapped the manifesto disk.

I'm a little sorry she wasn't made chief, because I was warming to the idea some, and I can't help but fantasize about what she could do if she were in charge of ALL THE THINGS. But I do think it's probably for the best - I feel like the bureaucracy and the politicking would cause her a lot of frustration, even though I'm sure she could handle them. Plus she'd miss interrogating people; she'd hate handing that job off to somebody else. And I'm hoping this means we'll see ... Delk, was it? some more. I like him.

And Rizzoli & Isles, omgggggggggg. I know this is not valuable commentary on a fairly hardcore episode, but: I LOVE THEM BOTH SO MUCH ♥♥♥♥♥. Ahem.

I wish the witness hadn't gotten killed, so that we could have gotten to know her better - and actually, when I think about it now, that does give away the ending a touch. Not the particulars, but if they lost the witness, then the guy she'd have pointed out for them needs to be found out some other way or killed over the course of the ep. Or, you know, both.

I thought the reveal was pretty decent; I wasn't expecting it at all, but it could be I just wasn't paying attention to the right things. It does make a little extra sense out of the anguished look on the face of the cop who was killed at the beginning. Not!Jett Jackson (okay, I need to stop doing that - Frost, is it?) was awesome, as was Korsak.

FRANKIE. D: I hope whatever Isles did with that tube and his lung and everything worked out - I have no idea how medically viable any of that was, but it looked awful. And everybody seems to be going the John McClane route this year; not that I mind. I know the odds they'll actually kill Rizzoli are miniscule, but still. DDDDDDDDD: The slow motion was actually kind of a nice touch, and I am SO GLAD they didn't slow-mo Isles yelling "Jane!" Slow-moing speech is basically NEVER a good idea. (Also: yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay they totally love each other.)

Final verdict: <3 MY SHOWS.
