leaf-dappled path of possibility.

So, I am an OTW member. Though I haven't said anything about it because I haven't been able to come up with anything thoughtful to say that hasn't been said better by other, more knowledgeable people, I have been reading every post I can get my hands on about the elections and the candidates and the issues involved, and I am going to do my best to make an informed voting decision. aerye's post expresses much of my current mindset (though not necessarily my final voting choices). I respect all five current candidates and Lucy P. very much; and, in a similar vein to several posts I've seen around lately, I love the OTW and all its projects (would not know what to do with myself without the Archive! get lost in Fanlore as easily as in TVTropes! etc.) and I am so so grateful to every single person who has made them all possible. I'm not sure I've been a very good member in some ways (anxiety + "participation means people can see me" = DDDDDDDDDD:) but I hope to do better in future.

As for the new AO3 skin deploy, I am coming at this from the angle of someone who doesn't use a mobile anything, experienced no particularly noticeable breakage, and is not invested in aesthetics much: I do sometimes forget it, but the AO3 is still in beta. The fact that I even can forget it's in beta is kind of amazing. Obviously it's useful to let people know when you experience issues with a site update, but I think it's essential to remember that any update to a site that's in beta is likely to have wrinkles, and the site team probably wants those wrinkles ironed out just as much as you do. **hands** It does not seem to me like a situation in which the amount of disdain I have seen in some places is at all warranted. But, as noted, there certainly are multiple reasons to argue that I was less affected than many people; and accessibility problems with the new skin are clearly valid complaints.

(To be clear: I'm not talking about drawing connections between the site skin stuff and the issues that have come up during the election. It's portions of the initial round of responses to the skin that I refer to here.)

Okay, now to slightly less fraught things. I am caught up on Burn Notice but have nothing to say, except TEAM, TEAM ON MY SCREEN, and also MADELINE YAY. And I watched Once Upon a Time in real time for once. It seemed reasonably solid? I felt like they made a distinct effort to depict Emma's decision to give Henry up as the right choice for her at the time and Ashley's choice to keep Alexandra as the right choice for her at the time, which was good. I liked Emma talking to her in the laundry room, and in the car - "You have to be ready [...] it's the rest of your life" - and with Henry at the end: "See you tomorrow." Ugh, my heart. And I must admit I loved Snow White dancing with Cinderella at her wedding, that was adorable and now I might ship it a little. I promise not to write a fic and kill the princes.

And! I finished Blackdog, but should probably hold off on the actual review until I have the book in front of me again. (Short version: I definitely enjoyed it! :D)

'tis weird because they're so sweet together and would make great femslash, yet not quite. MAybe there needs to be polyamourous OUaT fic?

Snow White and Cinderella definitely had more chemistry than Snow White/James and Snow White/Sean (is it Sean?)

also yay pretty dresses!

Fairy Tales would be wildly improved by the addition of threesomes.

Does this mean you're starting Infidel? Because I am about halfway through and want to talk about all the things. Also, kicking myself for not nomming it for Yule.
