YAY ART YAY! I cannot even tell you how hard [personal profile] idriya worked on these - I may have mentioned somewhere in my notes that she actually wrapped herself in a sheet to get the cloth in some of these right. That is dedication. I am so, so, so unbelievably lucky to practically have a pet illustrator of my very own, and I owe her big time for all her help and encouragement, whether it comes in the form of gorgeous digital paintings or incredibly irritating nagging about when I'm going to send her more fic. ♥♥♥♥♥ Best sister ever.

But, onwards: art! She did six pictures, each of one character as one of the cards in Gaius Helen's tarot deck. HOW COOL IS THAT.

Paul Muad'dib Atreides
"Al-Lat, the Destroying Sun ..."
A figure silhouetted against a fiery explosion.

The Lady Jessica
"The Star ... the devoted Sayyadina ..."
A seated woman looking up at a starry sky, with one star in particular shining brightly overhead.

Padishah Empress Irulan Corrino
"Auliya, the crowned woman, with the fountain of blessings behind her."
A woman, regal, crowned with leaves, water flowing from a fountain behind her.

Kaidama Sidebe
"The Hajrite, the Pilgrim: a fateful journey ..."
A woman, calm, standing at the start of a path with a lantern in her hands.

Saint Alia of the Knife
"The Pillar of Fire, light on the sand. Sudden enlightenment ..."
A crouching woman, surrounded by stone, shielding her face from a bright light from above.

Chani, daughter of Liet
"Ixion, the Wheel ... the wheel turns, things rise and fall."
A pregnant woman, seated, clothes and hair curling in the wind, as a storm gathers in the sky.

If I did not have to work I would spend all day staring at them with cartoon hearts in my eyes! How so awesome?

Those are gorgeous.

As someone who's never read Dune and knows nothing about it beyond, "it takes place on a desert world, and also there is something addictive called spice," should I read your fic or am I going to be utterly baffled?

Oh wow, these are amazing - very lovely and great drawing and colouring skills. I especially love the pink rippling effect in the last one - is it a sandstorm do you think? I will try to make time for the fic as well, as the art certainly draws you in.

I don't know anything about Children of Dune, but those are gorgeous.
